Final Car progress

Attached is a shot of the almost finished 3rd car. I am still well on track to finish all 3 cars by friday as planned.

Showroom and Veytron complete

The Showroom and the Veyron are now finished. I now have to complete the Honda and start a 3rd car. I plan to have this done by Friday.

Car Showroom and General Update

Attached is a picture of my showroom. I have almost finished modelling it and I need to texture it soon.

The website is coming along nicely, I have decided on a layout and its not a matter of finshing my 2 cars and adding a third, adding the showroom to the website and creating the interactive features using javascript. I have just over 2 weeks until the deadline but I feel I can achieve my goals in this time.

Final Report

Today I continued the report. Its been hard remembering to continue progress on the report with all the technical work I still have left to do. Along with the interim report, there is around 3000-4000 words now complete of the report. I plan to have the draft report sent off by the end of week, early next week at the latest. Hopefully this version will contain at least 8000 words.

Im not struglling at all with material to write about in the report, hence why I have left it late to really get started. I have spent so much time on my project that I could write forever about it! Its more like I have the report in my mind and I just have to write it down rather than create it from scratch.

Progress on Car 2

The exterior for the second car is nearing completion. It needs a few more things added, a few smoothing issues sorted and of course to be textured.

And so Easter begins...

After the rush that was the end of Spring term and a week of rest, its time to resume the project. Work last term wasnt great. The modules that ran where very hard and time consuming. I now have 6 weeks to get this done and im ready for the challenge!

I thought it was about time to start the website. Im using Dreamweaver and ill be writing the site in XHTML. The first thing that I have done is create a logo for my fictional car company. It is shown below (JET is my initials). The logo was created using Photoshop and the metalic effect was obtained from this tutorial.

There is a strange problem with the logo however. The outer circl of the logo is not perfect, despite holding the shift key (which the photoshop manual says creates a perfect circle). Its looking ok though, so ill press on with the site before worrying about minor details.

End of Term Approaches

It is now wednesday of week 9, I have 2 deadlines due in next week and I have to work a lot to get these finished. Therefore the project is on hold until the easter break begins. I managed to get another car done after my last post which was good and I have negotiated with my supervisor that he is happy to recieve my draft report throughtout easter. I will aim to have it to him by the end of the second week.

Time to finish the cars!

Ive decided that this week I will complete all the cars that I need for the showroom. It may take a lot of all nighters, but it needs to get done! Its been a lot more difficult than I expected balancing my project with the other course modules. The 3D web applications course is essentially a less detailed version of my final project.

If I can get these cars done by the end of the week, I can take some pressure off myself. It also means that I will have finished half the work for the 3D web apps course.

Update

Still trying to get the Veyron finished. It should have been done weeks ago, but so many problems keep coming up. I managed to find the answer to the poly problem. Turns out that it was a problem with my smoothing groups. I havent solved it yet, but at least I know the problem.

Plan for the rest of the term

Progress hasnt been great and I really need to pick up the pace. The next few weeks will be vital.I need to achieve the following goals

1. Complete 3 Cars with interior
2. Create Showroom
3. Create Basic Website
4. Put cars into website and add basic interactivity
5. Complete Draft Report

Extras will be added over easter.The above MUST be completed by the break.

Update

Havent been working on the project as much as I should have been due to other deadlines (so far 3 this term) however I am not too far behind. Next week is very important.

I have spent the last week beginning to reduce the polygon count on my car, it is far to high to place onto a web app. I have identified several areas where this can be achieved.

Next week I need to get another car modelled, finish the veyron poly reduction and also do at least 1000 words of the draft report.

Update

The last 2 weeks have been spent continuing the veyron and also spending time on my new modules at University this term. This week (Week 2) I hope to get the veyron finished and also start a new car. I am a bit behind schedule but im satisfied that I am still in control of the project.
